Keighley Tennis Grows From Strength to Strength
Keighley Leisure Centre hosted the Oakbank School Sports Partnership Year 3/4 Red Mini Tennis & the Year 5 Orange Mini Tennis Competition. Over 100 boys and girls from 10 different local primary schools had been receiving tennis coaching prior to the competition to prepare them for the day. Some had made the transition from school to club and had been attending Keighley Lawn Tennis Club Satellite Centre.
Children developed their tennis skills as the competition went on. Serving improved and forehand and backhand shots were fantastic. Movement around the court made for some very exciting rallies. There was some excellent Tennis played in the right sprit. Congratulations to all who took part. Some participants showed the potential to becoming successful tennis players.
Congratulations go to St Josephs R.C. Primary School who beat St Anne’s 25 points to 20 to be crowned the Oakbank SSP Year 3/4 Red Mini Tennis Champions. Nessfield Primary School overcame Long Lee Primary 26 points to 15 to pip them to 3rd place.
Congratulations also go to Eastwood Primary School who didn’t drop any points to beat Nessfield 28 points to16 to win the Oakbank School Sports Partnership Year 5 Mini Tennis Orange title. St Josephs R.C. had to play really well to defeat Long Lee Year 5 team to claim 3rd place.

Year 3/4 Winners St Josephs and Year 5 Winners Eastwood will now represent Oakbank School Sports Partnership in the Bradford District Finals (26/05/2010).
